The heart behind Elm & Ember

From a small town in Tipperary to the cedar forests of the West Coast, and a workbench where every candle is still poured by hand.

Where it began

My name is Leanne, and I’m the founder and candle-maker behind Elm & Ember Candles. I was born and raised in the southeast of Ireland, in a small town called Clonmel, County Tipperary.

I’ve always been drawn to the power of scent, how a single fragrance can awaken a memory, stir emotion, or carry you somewhere else entirely.

A new home in the forest

In 2011 I moved to Vancouver and fell instantly in love, with the wildness of the landscape, the calm of the forests, and the warmth of the people. It’s here I met my husband, Alex, and together we’re raising our two amazing girls.

I wanted to create something rooted in the essence of where I came from, while honouring the wild beauty of where I now call home.

At home, by hand

Poured with intention

And so Elm & Ember Candles was born, a candle company that lives at the intersection of memory, nature and story. Each candle is hand-poured in my home with care and intention.

I’m deeply inspired by old Celtic ways, seasonal rituals and the quiet magic of nature. You’ll find traces of those stories woven into every flame.

Market mornings

“Still feeling so grateful after Saturday’s market, a few of my scents sold out completely. This morning was spent melting, pouring, and restocking the shelves.”

“There’s something so lovely about knowing these little candles are finding their way into people’s homes.”
