Our Story

Where Celtic heritage meets Pacific Northwest beauty.

At Elm & Ember, we craft candles that honour the old ways while embracing the wild beauty of the present. Rooted in Celtic tradition and shaped by the misty forests of the Pacific Northwest, our candles are more than just scent, they are story made flame.

Each candle is hand-poured in small batches using clean-burning, sustainable soy wax and phthalate-free, cruelty-free fragrance oils. We are proudly committed to using ethically sourced ingredients that are gentle on your home and the earth.

Whether you're lighting a candle to mark a seasonal shift, invite calm, or simply enjoy the warmth of a flickering flame, Elm & Ember Candles offers you a moment of rooted stillness.

— where roots remember and embers speak.

The Heart Behind Elm & Ember

Leanne, founder of Elm & Ember Candles

My name is Leanne, and I'm the founder and candle-maker behind Elm & Ember Candles.

I was born and raised in the southeast of Ireland, in a small town called Clonmel, County Tipperary. In 2011, I moved to Vancouver and fell instantly in love, with the wildness of the landscape, the calm of the forests, and the warmth of the people. It's here I met my husband, Alex, and together we're raising our two amazing little girls.

I've always been drawn to the power of scent, how a single fragrance can awaken a memory, stir emotion, or carry you somewhere else entirely. I wanted to create something special. Something rooted in the essence of where I came from, while honouring the wild beauty of where I now call home.

And so, Elm & Ember Candles was born, a candle company that lives at the intersection of memory, nature, and story.

Each candle is hand-poured in my home with care and intention. My two collections reflect the places that live in my heart:

The Emerald Collection — inspired by the ancient beauty and rich folklore of Ireland, the emerald isle.

The Evergreen Collection — drawn from the misty forests and deep stillness of the Pacific Northwest.

I'm deeply inspired by old Celtic ways, seasonal rituals, and the quiet magic of nature. You'll find traces of those stories woven into every flame.
